Hampshire folkster Jay Jay Pistolet has posted details of his forthcoming EP on his myspace. Three out of four of the tracks were produced by Noah and the Whale’s Charlie Fink, and the fourth by Johnny Flynn bassist Adam Beech.
The EP will be released on 17th November through Stiff Records, but copies will also be available ahead of the date on Laura Marling’s Night Terror tour on which Pistolet supports.
The tracklising is as follows:
1. Happy Birthday You
2. Bags of Gold
3. Hooked Up On Us
4. Always On My Way Back Home
It may look familiar, but JJP says, “If you’re worried you’ve already heard these songs, you haven’t – redone innit.” And, in FFS’s opinion, redone really rather well. Jay Jay agrees, in an interview with For Folk’s Sake this summer, he said: “When I first asked Charlie to do it I almost kind of wanted him to make it sound like Noah and the Whale, and he didn’t do that at all, to his credit, he took it on as something completely separate and helped me form an identity.”

The EP launch show is at London Barfly on 19th November. Tickets here.
