It’s not everyday we share with you a track that was premiered on vogue.com, but then it’s not every day a track like this comes along. To call it a piano ballad wouldn’t do it justice – it’s warped and weird and wonderful, but it’s also kind of heartbreaking. If that description sounds a little unfocused, Natalie Mering, the woman behind Weyes Blood, probably wouldn’t object too much. She explains: “There’s so much different American music from the south, from the north, from the west, American music has an unhinged quality, of not belonging. I think of my music as a rugged individualist effort and I’d like to think that I stand on my own.”
