Maybe you hate the song, maybe you secretly love it, but everyone has an opinion on the definitive one-hit wonder from Chesney Hawkes. Now Ellen and the Escapades are here to change everything you thought you knew about ‘The One and Only’. Where the original is brash and, well, awfully corny, Ellen and her Escapades make it tender and fragile. The band, who earned national attention when their cover of R Kelly’s ‘The World’s Greatest’ took over coverage of the 2012 Olympics, freely admit it’s not the sort of song they envisaged ever covering, but they did so at the request of a publishing company and the track has now been picked up for the soundtrack of LA Slasher. The cover is available as a download while the band continue work on the follow-up to 2012’s All The Crooked Scenes.
