Music doesn’t have to smack you round the face to grab your attention, something that Mat Hunsley evidently knows. This most unassuming lament packs as big a punch as something twice as loud and infinitely more banjoey. We’re aware that whole ‘smacking you round the face’/’packing a punch’ metaphor-mixing doesn’t really make sense, but the point is, the song is very striking.
