‘I Hope It Breaks Your Heart’ is not simply the name of the lead single from Lotte Mullan’s Claw Marks EP, it seems to be her mission statement. A slightly abrasive tactic for a new artist in trying to win new fans, perhaps, but then Mullan sets out to make affecting music and largely succeeds. This record, the follow-up to the Suffolk artist’s debut album Plain Jane, was recorded in Nashville with members of Band of Horses, ahead of a full album to follow later in the year. Approach with caution – she might just break your heart.
