Last year, Manchester’s Laurie Hulme introduced Songs For Walter, an idea to tell tales of his late grandfather’s life through music. His Meet Me At The Empire EP was perfectly formed for the job, built around stories of his grandparents’ first date and holidays at the seaside alongside fading old photographs. The very point of the EP was to make sure those memories lived on in more than just photos, however, and despite the very specific topic of the first set of songs, Hulme has not stopped here. He followed up with a series of singles, and has this week collected everything together for a very limited, expanded re-release of the Empire EP, available now via his website.
