You will find some of the world’s biggest Blue Roses fans at FFS, so there is more than a little excitement about new music from Laura Groves. Groves has had a rebranding, dropping her floral moniker, so it’s no surprise that there’s a change of sound too, with echoing synths and keyboards taking over from the pianos, guitars, thumb pianos et al of her 2009 debut album. What hasn’t changed though is the richness of the sound, THAT voice and the fact that it is utterly mesmerising. “When the walls break down it’s a beautiful thing,” she sings, and so say all of us. An EP, Thinking About Thinking, is out on September 30.
