One of those multi-talented individuals who makes you feel embarrassed for every idle moment you ever passed, Will Varley’s new album As The Crow Flies is out next month. The introduction to the latest work from the novelist, film-maker and singer is lead single ‘When You’re Gone’. Recorded among the smugglers’ caves of Deal in Kent, there is something of the sea shanty about it. The video, with its depiction of a break-up through two space hoppers, is fun, but it’s the haunting track and Varley’s gravelly vocal which will stay with you.
