Ridiculously talented Newcastle four-piece Bridie Jackson & The Arbour have had quite a special few days, what with making their Glastonbury debut having won the festival’s Emerging Talent Competition to earn spots on three different stages across the weekend. Well, Bridie Jackson – it just got better. Your new single ‘Prolong’ has been given the equally prestigious accolade (cough) of being For Folk’s Sake’s Song of the Day. When you think about it, it kind of is a bigger achievement, because they only saw off a measly 8,000 acts to win the Emerging Talent competition, but they beat off ALL OTHER SONGS EVER WRITTEN to be Song of the Day. Except the ones that have already been Song of the Day. We’re unlikely to repeat, at least at this early stage. Anyway, the point is, Bridie Jackson & The Arbour are seriously awesome, and ‘Prolong’ proves exactly why 8,000 other fine bands had to settle for watching Greg James on BBC3 all weekend.
