Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo continue to go from strength to strength, as ‘Dear River’, the title track off their latest full-length release which is due out on July 8, proves admirably. Inspired by the Blackwood river near where Barker grew up in Australia, it’s a rip-roaring and wistful slice of pure county. Barker explains: “‘Dear River’ is about longing for the excitement of the unfamiliar, where the journey itself becomes a home. I set out on that journey, which is full of all the adventure and discovery that I wished for, but the more I travel and experience, the more the river calls me back.”
