Alt-folksters Woodenbox release their second album End Game next month. Lead single ‘Courage’ is out next week, but we love ‘Asphyxiation’, which shows off the band’s dark, brooding sound as the relentless piano drives the song forward before giving way to mournful brass and a crash of percussion. If there’s a better mariachi-inflected folk sextet out there, we don’t know about them. End Game, the follow-up to their debut effort Home and the Wildhunt, is released on May 27.
