Just Handshakes, it seems, are on the move. And we’re not just taking the name of their latest single as a sign. The Leeds band look to have dropped the ‘(We’re British)’ part of their name for something less regionalistic and a sound once described on this site as “fragile” has grown in a transatlantic pop loudly celebrating the C86 influences they’ve always had as part of their make-up. Their own PR describes this as “darker, more angular” than what has gone before and we can’t think of a much better way to put it than that. The folk influences have faded, at least on this evidence, but they still have us hooked. If they have you too, you can grab this as a free download from their bandcamp page.
