We first featured Common Tongues on FFS when the New Bands Panel gave them the once over back in 2010. At the time, they had just the two songs on their myspace page, but an early take on Solitary Thinker was among them. It impressed us then, but with three year’s polish on it it sounds even more accomplished. Effectively two songs in one, it begins with an almost reverential incantation before bursting into life just a little after the half-way mark, going from a gentle, warm embrace into something rhythmic and pulsing, with the band using a wide range of instrumentation to build a big sound a la Broken Records.
