In her new music video, Miriam Waks takes us on an adventure through the concrete jungle that is New York City. As we follow her through her home city, we are graced with a gorgeous ode to the incredible variety of art present in the Big Apple. It’s a captivating look into the city at large during day and night, exploring tunnels and squares and watersides and shops as sheer artful expression takes over.
It works, then, that Waks encompasses such a broad collection of musical influences in the coolly shimmering presentation of ‘Back to the Jungle’. Her slinky but powerful vocal delivery itself calls back to the style of jazz chanteuses of another era, with the arrangement unfurling around her invoking licks of blues along the way. It’s not quite folk, but it’s a roots performance not quite like any other that deserves a pair of eyes and ears.
