Soy Un Caballo’s Robin gets the experimental folk treatment by Tunng on this split single release featuring both the cover and original version.
The A-side, Tunng’s version, is a chilled affair, laced with handclaps and guitar riffs reminiscent of elevator music. This doesn’t detract from the song as a whole however. The vocals are sumptuous and the folktronic elements maintain curiosity throughout
The male-female vocal dichotomy of Soy Un Caballo’s original provides the character missing in the A-side. Their original is better produced and has more depth than Tunng’s cover.
This split release of Robin displays the talent of Soy Un Caballo more so than that of Tunng, nevertheless both versions are stunning compositions.
