You don’t need me to tell you that Alessi Laurent-Marke is one of the most talented creatures there has ever been to grace FFS ears, and her second single Over The Hill comes as no exception.
The tumble of notes that introduces you to the song, allows you into her subconscious and guarantees an adventure. In this follow up to her The Horse EP the listener is struck by Alessi’s honesty and maturity, despite the naïve atmosphere in “Over The Hill”. Her lyrical ideas, “It’s just a shame that from the very beginning you’ve always been her man”, flow through the song with the ease of a stream.
Alessi’s music perseveres through its melancholic resignation however, and you are left wondering who in their right mind would ever pass up a friendship with this remarkable lady.
