We’ve not heard from Golden Fable since 2017’s In The Aerie, but it turns out they’ve been away working on something special. A new record is on the way on 2019, and early signs point to something epic. What are those early signs? ‘Hold True’ is the first taste, and we’re delighted to bring you the premiere right here. The trio have been working with 11-piece Welsh orchestra NEW Sinfonia, and the results are majestic. As with their previous work, Rebecca Joy’s trademark vocals take centre stage but the rich layers of sound underneath are elevated to another level thanks to Jonathan Guy’s arrangements.
“Hold True started life as a motif written on a borrowed six string bass,” Tim Joy explained. “The extra strings gave a new way of looking at the instrument…This is one of the first pieces of music we wrote after embarking on our collaborative project with NEW Sinfonia, so we were really keen to explore the different tonal possibilities available with classical instruments.”
