It is not the usual way in to a love song. Our protagonist is waiting at the altar for his bride, and his mind fills with dread. The rest of his life lies before him. Sincere Deceivers’ ‘Hot Handed’ was inspired by the marriage of guitarist Tim Davies, and by the devastation caused when dementia struck songwriter Matt Glover’s grandparents. Tough stuff. But yes, this is ultimately a love song, and the message is an upbeat one. To put it succinctly, this London-based trio return to their Yorkshire roots. “Nothing is forever,” Glover said. “Make hay, and if it all goes wrong at least you had that one special moment.”
The shimmering ‘Hot Handed’ is Sincere Deceivers’ first new music since their 2015 debut Autumnal Dreams, and will be released alongside a trio of supporting tracks across digital platforms on Friday. The band will play a launch gig at the Sebright Arms, London, with support from fellow Yorkshire artist Amy May Ellis. Grand. Look for tickets and the like here.
