The Promise is Hope is a duo that most certainly lives up to the serendipitous tidings of its name. Ashley and Eric L’Esperance first met at a spontaneous song swap and were married a year and a half later. Their journey together as partners in art and in life has so far resulted in two lovingly crafted full-length albums. The newest of the two, Every Seed Must Die, was released last May to understandable acclaim in the folksphere.
Now, the New England indie folk duo is sharing their music video for the album’s title track with For Folk’s Sake. Defined by its minimalist arrangement, ‘Every Seed Must Die’ is a gorgeously crafted song that hinges more on its story and how it’s conveyed than any particular hooks or frills. All the L’Esperances need are their collective heart to ferry ahead, manifesting in the delicate sweetness of their harmonies as they share this song of storms and their aftermath.
Directed, shot, and edited by Benjamin Trussell, the music video accompanying ‘Every Seed Must Die’ beautifully accentuates its poignant, yet subtle, strengths. Be ready for the swirl of emotions that it will captivate you with, and check it out below.
