Pockinton (about 13 miles east of York) is the host for Platform Festival, running over 4 days from the 12th to 16th July.
Held indoors in an old railway station, the festival features a number of FFS favourites, opening with Lucinda Williams, who we described as “[belonging] among America’s finest songwriters of the last 50 years, and one of the finest you can come across anywhere working in music today”.
The main day is the 16th and features several acts loved by our writers, such as Gretchen Peters (“The music on each track is sublime, but the majesty of each song is Peters’ voice, stark and powerful”), Seafret (“Sedman commands his vocal space with a brewing, reserved passion that is altogether scintillating to behold alongside the slight spot of satisfying grit in his tone”), The Dunwells (“wonderfully constructed songs”). Oh, and then there’s the not-small matter of The Shires, who are headlining, and Badly Drawn Boy.
You can find out more and buy tickets on the festival website.
But the really good news is that For Folk’s Sake have a set of tickets, either two adults or a family ticket, to give away for the main day. To enter, simply enter your name and email in the form below. The winner will be picked at random. Competition closes at 8pm on Sunday 26th June.
