It’s time to get aboard the Ark again.
Alessi Laurent-Marke, AKA Alessi’s Ark, has unveiled a new track, ‘Tin Smithing’, in anticipation of the release of her third album The Still Life next month. Despite clocking in at under two minutes, ‘Tin Smithing’ still has something of an epic sweep to it, rising from a jerky, angular opening to a soaring finish as Laurent-Marke’s ever-maturing vocals swoop over the angular soundscape.
‘Tin Smithing’ is the second offering from The Still Life, following on from the January release of ‘The Rain‘, and there’s more than enough evidence to suggest her latest album could be her best yet.
Laurent-Marke explains: “I wanted to create a musical landscape that varied in sound, but an overriding feeling of ‘stillness’ remained throughout the album. I also wanted to step back from playing acoustic guitar and immerse the songs in very different sound settings from previous recordings.”
The Ark also sets sail for a UK tour next month, beginning at the prestigious Purcell Room in London on April 23, concluding in Liverpool on May 2 and taking in Nottingham, Manchester, York, Newcastle, Leeds, Bristol and Birmingham along the way.
