Tom Robinson and his team kindly invited us to pick some tracks for his Now Playing show tonight. It’s always so exciting to get to work with 6 Music. The station does such a wonderful service for new music, and the DJs and producers are all so knowledgeable and passionate. Anyway, enough gushing… here’s what we chose:
1. Sharon Van Etten – Leonard
#nowplaying @sharonvanetten‘s Leonard from her 2012 album Tramp. Her voice sounds like beautiful pealing bells in this song #blog6music

2. Gerard & the Watchmen – Stables
#nowplaying Gerard & the Watchmen – Stables. They filled the Royal Albert Hall Elgar Room with beautiful harmonies last week #blog6music

3. Charles Aznavour – I Drink
#nowplaying Charles Aznavour – I Drink. Bob Dylan called him the Frank Sinatra of France. I love these lyrics, they’re brutal #blog6music — For Folk’s Sake (@forfolkssake) October 28, 2012

4. Jackson C. Frank – Blues Run the Game
#nowplaying Jackson C Frank – Blues Run The Game. This song is really sad, but makes feeling hopeless really really pretty #blog6music — For Folk’s Sake (@forfolkssake) October 28, 2012
There are loads of great covers of this song too. Laura Marling does a version, as do Headless Heroes (fronted by Alela Diane) #blog6music — For Folk’s Sake (@forfolkssake) October 28, 2012
