This week we have Thom Ashworth in session playing a song from his recently released debut album Head Canon, which has been picking up praise across the folkasphere.
The album is a mix of traditional folk songs (and one modern cover) along with original songwriting with a protest / political aspect, drawing comparisons to the likes of Martin Carthy, Chris Wood and Billy Bragg. The core of the albums sound is Thom’s powerful voice and the unusual accompaniment of an acoustic bass guitar, both of which are in fine display in this performance.
Keep up with Thom over on Facebook, Twitter and Spotify. You can buy Head Canon on Bandcamp, amongst other places.
