Just a few days prior, Brooklyn’s Rad Trads reveled in the release of an official music video for their latest single, ‘Thumbtack’. Now, the rising quintet shares an acoustic rendition of the tune with For Folk’s Sake, who proudly premieres the live performance video today. Comprised of John Fatum, Alden Harris-McCoy, Patrick Sargent, Mike Harlen, and Michael Fatum, the Rad Trads have much ado about pursuing a stylish big band sound on the original record that helps to accentuate a comedic tale of romance gone awry. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the band’s not sacrificed a bit of their soul in this stripped-down reimagining of the self-deprecating single.
Harlen tells us, “We shot this video on an off day while we were playing a festival in Duck, North Carolina. We had this great house right on the beach so we took advantage of the scenic locale and shot a stripped down, acoustic version of ‘Thumbtack.’ Normally we play this tune with the big, full band sound you hear on the record, but when I first wrote the song all it was was a simple mandolin riff so it was fun to revisit the song closer to its original form.”
