Laura Marling has just released a new single from her forthcoming album, Short Movie. The single, entitled ‘False Hope’, is the second song to be released ahead of the album, after the album’s title track. Listen to it below:

Both singles are representative of the more experimental, electronic sound, and darker musical direction that Marling’s newest album is said to take. The two tracks reveal a stormier, more dramatically atmospheric sound from the former Queen of Folk.
Short Movie will be Marling’s 5th studio release, following 2013’s I Was Once an Eagle. It is due to come out on March 23rd through Vrigin EMI records, and is available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon.
The singer/songwriter is currently playing a scattering of small, intimate shows across the UK – attendance to which was determined by a lottery-style invitation. The dates are as follows:
- Wed 28th Jan – Hebden Bridge, The Trades Club
- Sat 31st Jan – London, The Silver Bullet
- Wed 4th Feb – Edinburgh, The Caves
- Sat 7th Feb – Bristol, Thekla
Tickets to these gigs are no longer available, but keep your eyes peeled as Marling may announce a supporting tour after the album release.
