Marian McLaughlin came to our attention in an email which said she makes songs of “breathtaking scope and exquisite detail”. This sounded like a big claim, until we listened to the music and discovered that this description is 100% accurate. This track ‘Before You Leave’, which was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered, is kind of unlike anything we’ve heard before. Light like chamber folk with the punch of a rock song and the intricacy of something verging on modern classical, it’s, well, it’s a thing of breathtaking scope and exquisite detail. We love it.
