‘Soliloquy of an Astronaut’ by Tessera Skies first surfaced last year, but listening to it right now it’s hard not to be put in mind of the film Gravity. Indeed, the title itself is enough to evoke the floating-round-my-tin-can loneliness and void-confronting existentialism of the Bullock-Clooney space thriller. Newcastle three-piece Tessera Skies are big fans of Sigur Ros, and the influence is clear in the echoing, epic sound of ‘Soliloquy…’ which gets a new lease of life thanks to this performance for the Generator Sessions.
