Bloom Festival Cancelled

We are distraught to announce that Bloom Festival, which we at FFS heights have been looking forward to for some months, has been cancelled.  The festival, which was due to take place at Chepstow racecourse from 14th to 16th August, has been called off due to a number of problems.  The Bloom team have released this statement:

“It’s with a heavy heart and great regret that we have to announce Bloom Festival 2009 will not be taking place on 14th – 16th August. However we will be back next summer – the dates and license are already confirmed at Chepstow Racecourse for August 2010.

“It’s been an incredibly difficult decision for us to make, as Bloom is an independently run organisation, built from our very heart and souls”, says festival organiser Olivia Chapman. “We have worked tirelessly for the best part of nine months on this event which makes it very hard for us to walk away from it. However we have to think of the bigger picture and feel that we are making the right decision”. “

Communion, the London and Brighton club night run by Cherbourg’s Kev Jones and Mumford and Sons’ Ben Lovett, were to curate a stage at the festival, which would have had appearances from Johnny Flynn, Emmy the Great, Alessi’s Ark, Jay Jay Pistolet, Broadcast 2000, The Leisure Society, Ryan O’Reilly and Kurran and the Wolfnotes and more.

The Communion chaps are not the sort to have their plans easily thwarted, though, and are busy trying to put all their work creating this stunning line up to good use. Watch this space for more details.

In the meantime, weep with us, folk fans, and be sure to support this fabulous festival in 2010!
